I purchased this book to help my high school daughter with her AP Composition class. My quick read of this book - and it is a quick read - is that it is very helpful in offering tips for writing essays (plus you get a second short book on studying.) The book outlines some good ideas for handling the process of writing an essay from start to finish. I think that one of the useful features of the book is that it gives direction to a student by giving the student specific directions on the mechanics of writing an essay, including the amount of time that should be spent on each part of the task of esay writing. Although at first glance, this level of specificity may seem overly didactic, for a beginner essay writing some "training wheels" during the process of developing the habits of essay writing is a good idea.I also liked the idea of "blocking time" that the author suggested for studying. Back in law school, I learned to block time - by setting a time limit on the time that I would give to reading the particular reading assignment. This was essential in law school because of the mountains of reading that are assigned. I found that by telling myself that I would spend no more than, for example, an hour on "Torts," I was more productive than I would have been if I had allowed myself unlimited time.
Although as a practicing attorney I have a lot of experience in research and writing, I still found the practical advice provided in this book to be a useful reminder, and a source of ideas for, perhaps, working on some "bad habits" that I may have acquired since graduation.
I'm not exactly sure that I can simply give this book to my daughter to read, since the last thing she wants is to have to read another "assigned text," but it may provide me with words and concepts when she asks me about how she should be writing her essays. For that, I think it is worth the price.

How to Write a Great Essay in 8 Hours or Less A Very Easy Guide 30 Minute Read The Learning Development Book Series 9 edition by John Connelly Reference eBooks Reviews
love this book I had a great time reading it and it helped me so much thank you
Easy to read, easy to practise. I've found a very clear guide, from the beguining until the end, and finally I could writte my essay in les than 2 days wich is a very good récord for me. I higly recommend The Guide to Write Essay of John Connelly because the guideline is easy to follow, very clear to understand.
Really thought it would be better for all types of
essays but really geared toward school essays
not really what I wanted.
I think I will be able to better help my son with his next essay. I have an MBA and have done countless essays. Recently, I was struggling with explaining to my ninth grader what he needed to do to improve his essay but I did not want to do his essay. This book has easy recommendations and we will both be on the same page.
The book is concise, as promised, and gives succinct, helpful ideas. The first one was an affirmation that starting with a question is an easy way to begin a great essay. By the way, these ideas will also work for speeches, including those that are not written out in their entirety.
I teach 12th grade English and am always looking for succinct ways to explain the writing process to young students. Connelly's advice is top notch and supports much of what I have endeavored to concisely teach for years. For example he discusses what I call the "think in three" rule. Three main ideas, three main points, three sub points, etc. I tell students to always break their work down into increments of three.
I plan to use this book and will strongly recommend it as a must read to all of my students, especially those planning to go on to higher education.
About half of this booklet has tips for writing an essay in 8 hours, and another half has 20 tips to get better grades. Whether it takes you 8 hours or more or less may depend on whether you have gathered all the information you need, but the tips themselves are solid, down-to-earth, practical and you're bound to find them helpful.
The authors shares tips on how to go about researching the information you need to write the essay, how to plan your essay, how to structure your essay; what to put in the introduction, body, and conclusion of the essay, how to present a balanced argument and how to include quotations and supporting evidence.
He also helps with tips on how to cut down the time you write by focusing on what is essential and will score you the most points, and not waste time on minor points.
If you're stranded for time, or don't like to read books with lots of fluff, then this book with tips may be all the information you need to get going.
